Good morning to our Northern family!

Somewhere between closing down gardens for the season and booking new clients for the next one, it hit me just how much these past few months have meant. 🌿

When I branched out on my own, I knew it would be a big step. I didn’t know how quickly Northern Edge Landscapes would grow, how much I’d learn, or how many wonderful people would support us along the way. Now, as we start winding down our first season, I’m feeling pretty sentimental about it all.

To every client who trusted us with your gardens and every person who followed along, shared a post, recommended us, or encouraged us: thank you. You helped make this first season something special, and I’m so grateful you’ve been part of it.

And I have to give Kianna a massive shout-out. She has worked incredibly hard this season, and I’m so proud of the growth she’s shown—not only as a hardworking, capable member of the crew, but on a personal level too. Watching her confidence and skills grow has been one of the best parts of this journey. I’m so lucky to have her beside me.

We still have gardens to tuck in and new plans taking shape, but already I’m looking back on this first season with a full heart. Thank you for helping Northern Edge Landscapes get off to such a wonderful start. 💚

A busy day in Ompah, just off Palmerston Lake! 🌿

Kianna and I got the topsoil graded out before lunch, and now we’re ready to spread some grass seed before turning our attention to the embankment we are dressing.

One step at a time, we’re helping this lakeside property get a little more stable and a lot more ready to grow. 💪🌱

A little Thanksgiving weekend sweetness came our way! 🧡

One of our recent clients’ granddaughters surprised us with a box of homemade cinnamon rolls, and they were absolutely delicious. Such a thoughtful treat made our weekend extra special.

A little family time at the hunt camp… and a little Porch & Pine brainstorming tucked in between. 🌲

I’ve been playing with some new design ideas, gathering inspiration from the woods and seeing what feels right. There’s something special about creating with the colours, textures, and character of the season.

Just a few experiments for now—but I have a feeling this winter’s porches are going to have a little extra woodland magic. ✨

❄️ Frost Advisory for tonight ❄️

Environment Canada is forecasting temperatures near the freezing mark overnight into Sunday morning. Frost can damage tender plants, so take a few minutes to protect anything you’d like to keep enjoying:

🌿 Cover frost-sensitive plants with a light sheet or frost cloth before temperatures drop.
🪴 Bring potted plants indoors, or move them somewhere sheltered.
🌱 Pay extra attention to tender new plantings and plants in low, frost-prone spots.

Most established, hardy perennials are built for autumn weather, so there’s no need to panic. A little protection can help your more sensitive plants through a chilly night.

Keep an eye on local forecasts and weather alerts. Stay warm out there!

Merrickville, here we come!

Later this morning we’re beginning fall cleanup at a beautiful property with several established perennial gardens. We’re so pleased to be caring for these gardens on a weekly basis and helping them settle in for the season ahead.

There’s something special about getting to know a garden over time. We’re looking forward to giving these beds some thoughtful attention and seeing them through the changing seasons. 🍂
