Hip. Both the roof and the house.

The roofline on this project was the most complicated we have ever taken on. An array of valleys and hips, each one requiring the timber frame to fit together like a lid. Precise, locked in, no margin for close enough.

The client knew exactly what he wanted. A retired engineer from the timber business, he was particular about the woodwork in a way that raised the standard for everyone on the project. Timber details had to align with trim details. Trim details had to align with the window layout.

The whole team brought that same discipline to every decision. Builder Solutions-Based Construction and Brash Designs made sure nothing was left to chance on the finish side. The result is a beach house where everything lines up.

Lifting 75-foot curved glulam beams over an active street requires one thing above everything else: a plan with no room for surprises.

At the Safeway site, we coordinated every lift while traffic kept moving below. The canopies went up clean — not because it was easy, but because the work had been done before anything left the ground.

That’s what good logistics actually looks like.

The homeowner designed it. Her husband engineered it. We built it.

That’s the short version of Chateau Corina on BC’s Sunshine Coast — a collaboration that started with a vision and didn’t stop until every rustic detail was exactly right. Handpicked materials. Personal decisions in every room. A finished home that reflects the people who made it.

The best builds always have a story like this one.

This one started with a conversation between a homeowner, his friends, and a blank lot in Squamish.

The Crumpit Woods Project was never about maximizing square footage. It was about fitting the landscape and adding just enough timber detail to make it feel like somewhere you’d actually want to spend time.

Sometimes the best builds are the ones that don’t try too hard.

Tudor architecture has centuries of rules behind it. What it didn’t have was CNC machining. ✨

On the Shaughnessy Tudor, we modelled every bracket, corbel, post, and railing in 3D before anything went on site, then cut each piece to modern tolerances using our CNC. The profiles are historically accurate. The precision behind them is anything but historical. The client wanted something that looked like it belonged in another century. We made sure it was built for this one.

The High Point — When Accents Do the Heavy Lifting
Not every timber frame is structural. Sometimes the wood is there to remind you how the space should feel. The High Point uses non-structural timber accents through a contemporary Langley home — rugged profiles against clean lines, natural grain against smooth finishes. Small decisions that change everything about a room.

West Coast Tuscan — Mayne Island
Sandblasted timbers. Custom wrought iron trusses. A cantilevered deck over the Strait of Juan de Fuca. The West Coast Tuscan on Mayne Island wasn’t designed to look European — it was designed to feel like it had always been there. Working with Peter Rose Architects and contractor Ray Dean, every detail was matched to the tone of the landscape.

Sewell’s Landing — Horseshoe Bay
Three and a half million people pass through Horseshoe Bay every year. Most of them look up. Sewell’s Landing is what they’re looking at — West Coast timber construction at a scale that earns its place on the waterfront. Warm wood, structural glass, ocean views. A building that works as hard as it looks good.

Happy Canada Day from somewhere with very good views and very large beams. 🇨🇦🪵
We build in BC because there’s nowhere else quite like it. The trees, the coastlines, the people who want to actually live in the landscape instead of just looking at it.
Here’s to another year of building something worth keeping.
