Embedded in its coastal setting, the home is designed around a material palette that speaks to permanence, weathering, and landscape. Weathering steel and architectural concrete establish a grounded architectural presence, while carefully framed views connect the interior experience to the surrounding terrain and water.

Our custom Squamish build is well underway.

In a coastal rainforest climate, material selection plays a critical role in the long-term performance of the building envelope. While pine and hemlock are commonly used as more economical softwood cladding options, they can demand increased maintenance and offer reduced dimensional stability when exposed to persistent moisture and seasonal weathering.

For this project, we have specified thermally modified wood cladding as a more durable and resilient exterior material. The heat treatment creates enhanced dimensional stability and resistance to moisture-related movement support both the architectural expression of the home and the longevity of the siding.
