Earlier this month we headed to Copenhagen for 3daysofdesign

We got to experience the talent of many emerging and established brands as they debut new furniture, lighting, and interior concepts.

Congratulations to A-N-D on the opening of their new flagship and showroom. We were honoured to experience the flagship, and how it transforms historic architecture into a multi-level showcase, while blending Canadian design with bespoke compositions.

We really resonate with how the show anchors itself around forward looking themes, sparking community dialogue surrounding sustainability, material honesty, and the purpose of design. We left Copenhagen feeling inspired, and excited for what’s ahead.

When a local couple came to us with this untouched Whistler lot, it presented us with both equal challenge and reward. Its unique shape drove us to embrace and preserve the landscape, creating a one of a kind home.

Our clients had the intention of hosting large family gatherings year round. We decided to carve the patio into the rocky terrain, providing a sense of privacy, and to allow for a seamless indoor-outdoor hosting experience. We chose to recess patio heaters into the soffit so the space could also be enjoyed during the colder seasons.

In the early stages of designing the Bowen Island Cabin, we were faced with a steep, complex site. Its constraints forced us to step outside our comfort zone, resulting in a unique form, and a dramatic cantilever.

We pinned the lower volume to the bedrock, and cantilevered 23 feet out. A 14 foot Vierendeel steel frame acts as the backbone, allowing us to realize our vision. We chose to clad the upper volume in slate, to create continuity between built form and environment.

Awards are a team effort. The Passive House Forest Retreat wouldn’t exist without our clients, who came to us with a clear vision and the courage to see it through.

To Postle Construction, who built it with the same level of care it was designed with. Ema Peter, whose photography gave this place its presence beyond the walls. And everyone who took the time to vote. Thank you, we’re grateful for all of it.

Situated in the forest outside Pemberton, the Passive House Forest Retreat was designed around one idea, that a home can ask very little of its environment and still give everything to the people inside. Solar array on the roof, an energy recovery ventilation system, a building envelope tight enough to maintain comfort with minimal mechanical load.

Winning the Architizer A+ Award for Sustainable Private House is a reflection of that intention. Thank you to our clients for never compromising on it, and to every consultant and trade who understood what we were trying to build.

We’re honoured to share that the Passive House Forest Retreat has won the Architizer A+ Popular Choice Award for Sustainable Private House. This project started with clients who trusted us to design something that performs as honestly as it looks, low energy, natural materials, a form that belongs to the land. That trust made this possible.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to vote, to our consultants and builder Postle Construction for the precision and care brought to every phase, and to Ema Peter for photography that captured the home exactly as it feels.

Set into a forested site in Squamish, Robin Drive Passive House holds its position without imposing on it. The gabled form, timber cladding, and concrete base read as site-specific responses, each tied to the climate, the landscape, and the brief.

A sustainable home for a family who wanted less mechanical effort and more connection to where they live.

A double height living space, natural millwork, and forest accents, all considered for a small family who wanted a home that performs as well as it feels.

The vaulted ceiling pulls light deep into the space. The palette remains warm and grounded. Robin Drive Passive House treats sustainable living not as a constraint, but as the starting point.
Does the space feel the way you’d want to come home to?
