Behind the brand – meet my Pop, Doug Skirving.

Pop was quietly skilled, steady, and patient. He could build, fix, or figure out just about anything. He had a warm personality and was the kind of person who made you feel welcome the second you walked through the door.

One of the reasons I got into carpentry was growing up watching him do woodworking and seeing how much joy it brought him. Along with my dad, we worked on many projects together over the years, and a lot of my lessons were learned between home and time at the cabin. When my dad was renovating our house I was always one step behind him asking too many questions and bugging him to teach me, but he always did.

We lost my Pop in 2020, and the business carries his last name as a tribute. It’s a reminder to me of where it all started, and the kind of warmth and character I hope shows up at work every day.

Owner/Operator with 16 years of hands-on experience in residential carpentry, Steve brings an eye for detail and a genuine care for how a renovation feels from start to finish. He believes the little things matter both in the renovation and client experience, and takes pride in doing the job right.

Outside of work, you’ll find him around town with his dog Bo, checking out new music, or unwinding at the cabin. He’s into travel, hunting, and collecting antiques with a bit of history and character (much like the homes he works on).
