Kimberly + Matt Burns here. Our family lives on Garnett Valley Road, in Summerland. On Friday night, we held our breath with all of you, as the Bald Range wildfire ravaged our beautiful little community, spreading at an unprecedented pace, and leaving devastation in its wake.
Our hearts go out to all that have lost their homes, pets or livestock, businesses, personal belongings and irreplaceable keepsakes to the fire. 💔
Seeing the wonderful residents of our little town and the surrounding areas come together, helping in any way possible and lifting one another up, has made us so grateful and proud to call Summerland our home. 🩵
It's been incredible to see individuals and businesses generously donating time, products, coupons etc. to ease the burden on evacuees. Even small things make such a tangible difference. We see how much that has meant to everyone... it's heartwarming, and inspiring. Friends and neighbours, you are strong, generous, kind and resilient.
And we want to help, too. 🩵
It will take a while, to process what has happened... to get back into our properties... to take stock of the losses... and to make plans, for moving forward.
