We support Holman’s in their buisness practices and ethic time after time they show transparency and kind efforts.
I hope we as a people choose to support businesses that see the companionship over profit concept.
Hello everyone!
Let’s talk 2026 prices! It's that time of year when I start getting messages asking what our plans are for the year.
This is the time of year when many businesses are wrapping up their year-end bookkeeping and asking themselves: Can we sustain this for another year? The cost of this and that has gone up, and will likely keep going up. Who knows what this year’s property taxes will be? We want to give our employees raises, what will that cost? Minimum Wage is up so onboarding new employees will be more expensive, And on and on.
You’re going to see a lot of businesses posting about 2026 price increases. You may walk into a surprise price change, and sadly, you’ll probably also see some businesses finish their 2025 finances and say, “I’m sorry—this just isn’t worth it anymore. Thank you to our loyal fans, but we’ve decided it’s in our best interest to close.”
Guys… if you see a post announcing a price increase, please give that business some grace. I’ve seen a lot of comments lately along the lines of “Blame businesses for the rising cost of living—they could lower prices if they wanted to.” That may be true for massive corporations bringing in billions in profit, but from my experience talking with local entrepreneurs, raising prices is one of the things they dread the most. We hate it just as much as you do. But at the same time, we’re looking at our books thinking, “I don’t think we can survive if we don’t make this change.”
Many local small entrepreneurs I know aren’t even paying themselves—everything is going back into the business just to cover rent, payroll, and basic operating costs.
Now, let’s talk Holman’s 2026 prices.
2025 was an awesome year for us! Thanks to continued strong local support and an amazing tourism season, we had our best year ever. We were really nervous when we adjusted our prices last spring and worried we’d see a drop in sales—but instead, sales went up! Thank you so, so much for that support! It truly means a lot!
Now for the reality check. The cost of everything continues to rise—especially chocolate and eggs in our cost of goods—along with electricity, equipment, labour, property taxes, and more. All of it went up.
The good news is that this year, the positives outweighed the negatives, and we finished the year in a comfortable position - definitely still challenges and more threats on the horizon but we are comfortable going into 2026. So thanks to you and your continued support, our ice cream, cake and sundae prices will remain unchanged for 2026!!!
The only adjustment we’ll be making is to pop prices, which will increase by 43 cents (50 cents with tax).
Why the long, rambling post? Because I don’t want anyone looking at another business adjusting their prices and thinking, “Well, Holman’s didn’t raise theirs—why are you?” And I know we are going to need some grace in future years as well as the price of everything continues to rise!
Every business is facing different costs, challenges, and realities—and most are just doing their best to survive.
Thank you, as always, for supporting local!
