Looking out at the past while building for what’s next.

Colony Construction is proud to be working with Jim Dent Construction on a new pre-engineered steel and insulated metal panel building at BC Hydro’s Nicola Substation.

The work is part of a larger electrical load increase project supporting continued growth in British Columbia’s mining industry.

Another project where strong infrastructure today helps make future growth possible.

Remote projects change the way a build needs to be approached.

When a site is far from major supply centres and resources, there’s less room for last-minute decisions. Materials, crews, equipment, scheduling, and site conditions all need to be considered well before work begins.

For us, successful remote construction comes down to thinking ahead, staying adaptable, and keeping every moving part coordinated from planning through ex*****on.

Because the farther the jobsite, the more preparation matters. 🏗️

Steel market changes don’t just affect the price of materials. They can influence decisions across a project, from procurement and sourcing to timelines and overall budgets.

That’s why the conversations happening BEFORE construction starts can be just as important as what happens on site.

With changing trade conditions, early coordination gives project teams more time to understand potential impacts, explore options, and make informed decisions before key details are locked in.

Planning something new? Let’s start the conversation early. 🏗️
