🏗️ Exciting News for Building Safety in British Columbia! 🌐 The province has officially adopted the BC Codes 2024 to enhance building safety, sustainability, and accessibility. Here are some critical updates:

✅ All new buildings will include one living space designed not to exceed 26°C.
✅ Power-operated doors in all building entrances and universal washrooms.
✅ Elevators mandated in large two- and three-storey apartment buildings.
✅ Focus on accessibility, mass-timber construction, and radon safety.

📅 Most changes will be effective provincewide on March 8, 2024, allowing time for industry professionals to adapt. Notable postponement to March 10, 2025, for adaptable dwellings and earthquake-design changes, ensuring a smooth transition.

🏡 These updates align with the Residential Development Act, promoting small-scale, multi-unit housing. The government is committed to removing barriers to accessibility, promoting inclusivity, and addressing evolving housing needs.
