Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority has issued a Flood Outlook Statement for the Niagara Peninsula Watershed
https://alertable.ca/ #/incidents/a674f620-9e55-4ea1-8dae-459f2d748d5e
This notice is intended to advise the public and local municipalities of the potential for flooding within the NPCA's jurisdiction as it relates to the Niagara Peninsula, the southeastern portion of the City of Hamilton and the eastern portion of Haldimand County.
A low-pressure system is forecast to move across our region beginning tonight and continuing through Wednesday, bringing approximately 20-30 mm of precipitation to the watershed. Air temperatures are expected to remain near or slightly above freezing during this period.
Despite recent mild temperatures, existing snowpack and river ice remains on the landscape across much of the watershed. The forecast rainfall is expected to generate runoff and increase water levels and flows in local watercourses. At this time, widespread flooding is not anticipated, however localized flooding and ponding of water in low-lying areas is possible.
Residents are urged to stay away from creeks, rivers and all waterbodies at this time due to slippery slopes and elevated water levels as they can be hazardous. Residents are encouraged to ensure drainage on their property is not hindered by blocked culverts, catch basins or ditches. Municipal and Regional staff are also advised to check local storm infrastructure to ensure that they are not blocked.
This notice is in effect until Sunday February 22nd at 12:00 PM.
Follow the directions of local authorities and look for any updates on the situation.
Stay away from creeks and rivers due to slippery slopes, elevated water levels and high flows.
Municipalities are advised to check for blockages on stormwater infrastructure.
