Have you ever grown from seed? Other than the major satisfaction of watching your first sprout poke out, here are some unique benefits of starting from seed:
- Taproot: the backbone of the plant, this central root grows straight down, is the sources of all other, smaller roots, and may offer more support to your plant. Clones only develop secondary roots, which grow outwards rather than straight down.
- Variety: Seeds come from all sorts of genetics - the sky's the limit! Clones mean you're more likely to be growing the same thing as everyone else.
- Storage: Unlike clones, seeds can be stored for a long time in the right conditions. Start a few this growing season, save some for later, or experiment with different growing conditions.
- A Fresh Start!: Every seed is a clean slate. Which means it won't inherit anything harmful from its Mother Plant the same way a clone might, like pests and diseases.
