with the incoming rains and the abundance of snow, i suggest you take the time to dig out the end of your downspouts and create a channel so the water can run away from the house, and also check to see if the sewers near your house have been cleared,

With the rain and the warmer weather we are supposed to be getting in the next 3-4 days. I advise that you ensure that your eavestrough downspouts are properly attached and extended away from the house/foundation, as there is going to be lots of melting and the ground is still frozen, so the risk of water in your basements is much greater with these conditions!

Next time you say "damn, must be nice" you might want to understand a lifestyle that made it possible!

8-5 didn't make it.
Parking on the couch to watch TV didnt make it.
Sleeping in on Saturdays didnt make it.
Calling in when sick didnt make it.
Being content with where we're at didnt make it.

It came from some 13-17 hour days.
It came from beating the sun up.
It came from working on weekends.
It came from sacrificing family time.
It came from wanting a little better tomorrow.

These are a few things to consider before you throw out "damn, must be nice" at someone! We are all products of our competence. And extra efforts are what make the biggest differences at the end of the day!

Happy fall everyone,
now is the time to change the batteries in your detectors, turnoff the out side water control valves and then turn on the outside taps, and leave on, make sure to have your eaves cleaned and the downspouts draining at least 10 feet away from the foundations, also if your storing your summer gas powered tools, make sure to top them up with fuel and fuel stabilizer, or run them dry, also clean out you window wells and cover then, be prepared for the first snow fall, by having calcium chloride ice melter availableas it is less harmful to cement, stone and grass
