Project Highlight - Canadian Food Inspection Agency
Designer - HOK
The last couple years have taught us to adapt and work through all obstacles that the pandemic presented to all of us. Projects slowed down but yet kept moving forward to the eventuality that we would all return back to a redefined sense of normalcy. The build out and construction of our client’s new space fell right in the middle of two provincial wide shutdowns and added difficulties in obtaining material resources. Despite these road blocks we managed to push through to the end and deliver a beautiful space to the client we can be proud of.
The original building and interior needed some considerable tender, love and care; the existing concrete floors slab needed to be fully grinded and leveled including slab lifting by way of injection. New large windows were added to allow for natural light to come into the building. Even the old loading dock door was removed to install a new floor to ceiling aluminum window. The interior comprised a combination of spaces; including open workstations, offices, conference room with folding partition, food laboratories, washroom/showers, and high density filing area. The Interior palette and design showcased cool blue tones, harmonized with warmer wood textures and grey accents through wall graphics and floor designs. A beautiful design courtesy of HOK.
EBS is pleased to have worked on this project with such an amazing team.
