We love the educational opportunity of this post by Vandermeer Nursery! Some of the traditional, old time plants our parents grew, we are learning just how damaging they have been once they “escape” our yards and take over fields and forests, choking out what native growth was there. It is essential for saving our biodiversity and our pollinators as well. So before you plant, ask your friendly nursery staff or landscaper about what plants will thrive not only in your gardens, but in our local environment.

And enjoy the pretty yellow dandelions in your lawns as much as our bees do! This is one of their first meals of spring!

🌸🌼🌸 Happy Spring 2020! 🌸🌼🌸

So much of our social landscape has changed durning this unprecedented time of a global pandemic. It was with great sadness and frustration that one of our industries biggest events Canada Blooms and the National Home Show 2020 were canceled this year due to Covid-19.
The hardest part was it was canceled mere hours before it’s opening! But fortunately it was digitally captured to share virtually with us... not quite the same without that smell of spring with all the cedar mulch and flower blooms bursting open, but still just as amazing!

The question most often asked in the early is “How do I get rid of dandelions?”
The answer is “Don’t”.

Dandelions are the first food for bees after a long winter when all of their pollen reserves are depleted... let them build these up a little before you get rid of them all... besides they’re rather pretty, but it’s all a matter of perspective we think!
