Old stone. New steel. One compound.

Integrating a contemporary addition into a heritage property requires decisions that go beyond materials. How old and new sit together in proportion, in roofline, in how they read at every hour. After dark, the lighting reveals how well those decisions held.

After the floors and the tile and the colour, this is the room that breathes.

Yellow floral, brass sconces, a porthole letting in the lake light. Every room in this boathouse has a mood. This one says slow down.

Bold in every room. Starting with this one.

Boat in the slip, bar nearby, lounge in between. A lower level that doesn’t separate the social space from the lake access. It puts them in the same room.

Where the lake begins, the property doesn’t end.

A boathouse is the meeting point between land and water. The last thing built and the first thing seen arriving by water. Getting it right, structurally, materially, in how it sits on the lake. That’s where the first impression is made.

The suite is its own sequence.

Dressing room, bedroom, bath — the flow is intentional and the finish has to stay consistent throughout. That kind of result starts with coordination well before the millwork goes in. Trades, timing, material decisions. It’s not visible in the final photos, but it’s in every room.
