Summary:
The Journeyman Plumber will be responsible for the installation, maintenance and repairs associated with plumbing, heating, gas lines and equipment of EAMA. He/she will work using safe work practices, always being aware of personal, team members and client safety. The Journeyman Plumber will be required to demonstrate written and verbal communication through the creation of work documents, and through providing explanations and training to others on the safe use of related equipment.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Respond to gas leak(s) and perform detection.
Connect equipment that requires a gas line.
Educate clients about gas safety and maintenance of equipment.
Maintain and service plumbing, heating units and components.
Test and replace defective equipment.
Test repaired equipment for proper performance.
Secure pipes or related equipment, by welding, brazing, cementing, soldering, or threading joints, dependent on specifications.
Respond to service calls and troubleshoot issues.
Participate in all construction and remodeling projects involving plumbing.
Tend to the maintenance and preventative maintenance programs, including cleaning of all plumbing and gas equipment.
Drive company vehicles.
Propose changes or modifications to plans to enhance operation and efficiency of systems plans and specifications.
Assigns supervision and oversees aspects of new assignments.
Supervises and provides technical expertise to staff.
Manage, evaluate, supervise, train, and coach assigned staff/apprentices.
Develops goals and priorities; assigns tasks and projects.
Sign and approve timesheets for assigned staff on the same job/projects.
Implements corrective actions and conducts performance evaluations.
Ensures accuracy and completion of assigned tasks and projects.
Keep detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation.
Maintain current plumber's license or identification card to meet governmental regulations.
Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology, compliance and repair techniques.
Other assigned work as required.
Requirement:
Must possess a valid Driver’s License with clean driving record.
Ability to work independently in a busy environment.
Experience with routine maintenance operations.
Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
Able to work well under pressure.
Strong attention to detail.
Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.
Computer literate.
Work Conditions:
24/7 availability may be required.
Physical ability to lift up to 50lb.
Travel to off-site locations may be required.
Safety equipment will be required, e.g. steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles, etc.
Overtime as required.
Hazards associated with the trade.
Work both indoors and outdoors.
May be exposed to construction sites.
Qualifications:
High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training preferred.
Government Trade Certification (306A).
Appropriate credentials and certifications - Industrial Plumber Trade Certification, 5th Period Apprentice, Industrial Plumber Red Seal Certificate, Gasfitter 2nd class, Gasfitter Certification of Qualification an asset.
Minimum 3 years of experience as a Journeyman Plumber.
