Last season, we finished rendering the first length of wall skirt, just as winter was around the corner.

Now, we're back to finish the job. The sponge finished render looks fantastic! Today was about building a proper sill and getting mud on the wall.

Sometimes, imperfections add character and charm. Although , we wonder how they insure this. 🤔🙂

The Crooked House in Lavenham, Suffolk, with its dramatic lean is said to have inspired the old English nursery rhyme 'There Was a Crooked Man'.

The building has stood for over 630 years, and it remains one of the most visited landmarks in one of the best-preserved medieval towns in England. Lavenham's wealth came from wool - at its peak in the 15th century, the town was taxed more heavily than Lincoln, York and Exeter. The buildings that wealth built are still standing.

Today, The Crooked House is home to Alex and Oli, who are working to secure its future. Alex has written about what it's like to live in - and care for - a building like this.
