Every turf company will tell you theirs is "commercial grade."
Almost none of them will tell you what that means.

So here it is, before anybody tries to sell you anything.
3/4" pile. Short enough that a sled doesn't dig in and a sprint doesn't feel like sand.
No infill. Nothing to sweep up, nothing tracked into the change room, nothing black on anybody's hands. It also runs about 10% cooler than a rubber-filled floor.
4,224 blades per square foot. That number is the one that actually predicts how a floor looks in year three, under the same twelve people doing the same session every morning.

5mm foam pad bonded to the backing. That's what your knees are landing on.

First day of fall. One of these will look like this in
November too.

Today is the first day of autumn, which is also the exact
point in the year when a natural lawn starts losing the
argument. Thin patches don't recover. Bare spots under the
tree stay bare. Six weeks of raking, one last mow, then five
months of looking at it through the kitchen window.

The bottom half of this picture is a real backyard our crew
finished. It looks like that today. It will look like that in
November, in February under the snow, and in March when every
other yard on the street is mud.
