This one was all about bringing the character back while giving it a fresh, modern edge. The warm teak was carefully restored, the original details were preserved, and I added that gorgeous dark ribbed detail to the upper shelving for a little contrast and personality.

A piece with so much potential just waiting for someone to see it 🩷

Every restoration shop needs a quality-control manager. 🐾 He takes his job very seriously around here. Apparently, no project gets approved without a thorough inspection.

Behind every finished piece is a little bit of chaos, a lot of dust, and occasionally… a very opinionated supervisor. 🐱

Sometimes the best part of refinishing isn’t knowing exactly how you’re going to do it… it’s figuring it out. ✨

This vintage teak cabinet came to me dated, damaged, and ready for a whole new life. My client had a beautiful inspiration photo, and I knew I wanted to recreate that look with half-inch dowels.

The tricky part? Making sure every single dowel lined up perfectly without spending hours trying to piece it together.

So I changed the plan. I removed the back panel, laid it flat, and built the entire design directly on top of it.

And honestly? Those are some of my favourite moments in this work… the ones where you have to stop, rethink it, and find a better way.

Because sometimes the best ideas aren’t the ones you plan, they’re the ones you figure out along the way. 🩷

This dining set came to me looking very different… but my client already had a vision for what she wanted it to become.

She wanted to move away from the dated orange oak and create something richer, warmer and more timeless, with beautiful black chairs to completely transform the look. And I think the finished result proves that sometimes your furniture doesn’t need to be replaced, it just needs a new vision.

Would you have guessed this was the same dining set? 👀

One of my favourite techniques for transforming dated oak is using a custom paint wash as a toner. It gives me incredible control over the final colour while still letting the natural beauty of the wood grain shine through.

For this tabletop, I stripped the old finish, sanded it smooth, and used a 1:5 paint wash with Fusion Mineral Paint in Wood Wick before sealing it with a durable topcoat. The base was finished in Benjamin Moore Onyx for a timeless contrast.

It’s always so satisfying to take a solid wood piece and give it a fresh, modern look while preserving the character that makes it special.

These chairs were incredibly well made, but the orange finish made them feel dated. With the right prep, a quality bonding primer, and a durable paint finish, they now have a completely different look while keeping all of the character and craftsmanship that made them worth saving in the first place.

Furniture doesn’t always need to be replaced. Sometimes, it just needs to be refinished. 🖤
