Member profile: Tyler
Tyler has been a Paid-On-Call Firefighter for the past two years, balancing service to the community with a full-time career as an accountant. Driven by a desire to give back, Tyler joined the fire service to serve the community when it matters most.
One of the things Tyler is most proud of is the calm, focused approach when the tones go off—taking a moment to mentally prepare for what’s on the other side of the call and trusting the training and skills built through practice.
Tyler thrives on the challenges of training, especially with the strong support of fellow team members. His favourite drill? Pulling hose lines—a hands-on skill that keeps everyone sharp and ready.
Something Tyler wishes the public knew more about is just how well the fire department supports Paid-On-Call firefighters, particularly through ongoing training and development.
Advice for new recruits:
Embrace the challenge. Firefighting is a lifetime of learning, and the best approach is to build skills one step at a time.
Thank you, Tyler, for your dedication, commitment, and service to our community!
