Quick one we get asked a lot: do you need a permit to fill in a pool?

In most cases, no. A standard fill in usually doesn't need one. A permit only comes into play if you're planning to build a structure over the filled in area later on.

You asked, so here it is.

A lot of you saw the before photos we posted and wanted the full story plus the "after" shots. This one was wild!

This property was in Brampton, and the homeowners just could not get it sold. The pool was a big reason why.

Here is how it got to that point. After the previous owner passed away, the property ended up being worked on by some contractors who were, to put it kindly, not the right people for the job. Instead of disposing of everything properly, they threw all the debris straight into the pool. Somehow it caught fire. The City of Brampton had to come out and put it out, and on top of that there was a serious environmental issue with everything that had been dumped in there.

That is when we got the call. We cleaned the whole thing out, stripped out all the concrete, metal, and garbage, and restored the property right back to its original state.

Two days after we finished, the house sold.
