Below is a little article from 2023. New regulations with moving contaminated material and non-contaminated material here in BC. https://www.harpergrey.com/environmental-law/understanding-bcs-new-soil-relocation-process/
Moving dirt in BC? The rules have changed.
Recent updates to BC’s soil relocation process mean more accountability on every project. From mandatory soil testing on certain sites to new notification requirements before moving “clean” soil, there’s a lot more to think about before the first truck rolls.
If you’re relocating soil from commercial or industrial sites, testing is now required to determine if it’s contaminated.
Moving uncontaminated soil? You may need to submit a Soil Relocation Notification in advance.
And non-compliance can come with serious penalties.
Bottom line: moving dirt isn’t just logistics anymore—it’s compliance.
