The formal unveiling of Agnes Street Greenway in New West is set to feature our specially made TrafficPatterns thermoplastic crosswalk. This project uniquely integrates public art, with designs for two crosswalks near École Qayqayt Elementary School created by Rain Pierre, a local Indigenous artist from the Katzie First Nation. In addition, Qayqayt students had the opportunity to participate in the artistic process through an art competition.

Recent Crosswalk Project Completed for The Sunshine Coast (Sechelt BC)
Local Indigenous Artist Dionne Paul kicked off National Aboriginal History Month June 1st with a spectacular new pictograph themed crosswalk at Cowrie Street and Trail Avenue intersection in Sechelt on Sunshine Coast BC Canada which tells the origin story of the shíshálh Nation 🇨🇦🧡

Dionne writes "When I was working on the concept development for this piece I closed my eyes and thought about materiality - asphalt and thermoplastic. I envisioned the asphalt as natural rock. I envisioned the thermoplastic as our traditional paint. I envisioned pictographs!!

Pictographs are paintings on rock. Pictographs are very special and carry this mysterious quality about them. No one knows how this paint made with natural materials - pigment and binder can last unharmed for hundreds of years. I know there is magic in the paint brushes

Pictographs are an agreed upon “language of symbols” used to tell stories or communicate information. The story telling is the constellation of each grouping of pictographs, they need each other and take care of each other.
