What does it take to deliver a 30,000 sq ft headquarters that was designed, built, and completed in just one year?
Designed by M Moser Associates and built by Fusion Projects , this project for Elk Valley Resources (EVR) was completed within a tight, one-year timeline from early planning through final construction.
Kathy Cernea, Project Manager at Fusion Projects, shares how careful coordination, clear communication, and disciplined scheduling were critical to delivering a complex, two-level office with a new interconnecting staircase for EVR’s new headquarters in Downtown Vancouver.
From a design perspective, Alex Watkins, Associate Director at M Moser, walks through the inspiration behind the space, drawing on EVR’s mining heritage and connection to place. Forcrete microcement walls echo geological striations, commissioned Ktunaxa First Nation artwork grounds the workplace in local context, and a dramatic architectural stair creates a strong visual and spatial link between floors.
With high-performance AV, switchable privacy glazing, exposed ceilings, and extensive custom millwork, the result is a durable, future-ready workplace designed to support collaboration, focus, and long-term operational performance.
