This feels like the type of entryway that makes coming home after a long day feel noticeably better. Not in a dramatic luxury way either, just calm.

There’s room to breathe, natural light everywhere, and nothing visually screaming at you the second you walk in.

I also love how connected everything feels. You can already see into the living space, the fireplace, the soft finishes. It all flows together instead of feeling like separate rooms. And honestly, that’s something people really notice once they live in a house.

A lot of people delay renovations for years because they’re scared of the process more than the actual investment.

This is the kind of bedroom that would ruin regular hotel rooms for us forever. Imagine waking up, opening those doors, and that’s your view before you’ve even had coffee.

When we renovated this home, we didn’t want the interior fighting for attention against what was happening outside those massive windows. The landscape already brought so much into the space.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So instead, we kept the room softer: light tones, simple furniture, lots of breathing room. You could leave a book on the bed, sit outside in a hoodie at night, take an afternoon nap with the doors cracked open.

Honestly, it feels more like a reset button than a bedroom.

A lot of people get nervous about darker cabinetry because they think it’ll make the room feel smaller, but when you balance it properly, it actually creates depth.

Here, the softer wood tones and all the natural light stop the darker finishes from feeling heavy, and instead everything feels bright.

I always think about the reality of a place like this.

It’s a rental. People are coming and going. Suitcases, gear, kids, friends. It could have easily felt a bit generic, but then you add something like this, and suddenly it has a bit of personality.

The kind of detail people remember when they leave. Not in a “wow look at this feature wall” way, but more like, this place just felt really good to be in. And that’s actually what you want, especially in a home that’s constantly being used.

This home originally started as a classic 1980s craftsman, but the goal with this renovation was to completely shift how it felt — inside and out.

A lot of the design decisions were made to bring in a more modern, contemporary feel, especially with the frameless glass details and the four-panel slider that opens the main floor right up to the outdoor living space.

Now the kitchen flows seamlessly outside to the built-in pizza oven, barbecue, and lounge area, which makes the whole space feel perfect for entertaining, but also really easy for everyday living.

Spa-like bathroom means different things to everyone, but when I’m talking with clients, it almost always comes back to wanting the space to feel calm.

That was the direction with this one in our Hycroft project in West Vancouver. They wanted their primary bathroom to feel like a bit of a reset, especially on weekends.

Marble tile, warm wood, a Capiz shell chandelier, and a soaker tub, just enough to give it that spa-like, easy feeling without overdoing it.

Walking through Edgemont today and stopped by a new project we’re about to get started on. We’ll be adding a second storey to this lovely bungalow in the village to create a lot more living space for a growing family.

It’s always exciting to see how these homes evolve, especially in a neighbourhood like this where there’s already so much character.

I find with mudrooms and laundry spaces, it’s less about how they look and more about how they make your day feel. Whether things are easy to put away, easy to find, and easy to keep up with.

When they’re not, it’s usually the same story, just not in a good way. Piles build up, nothing has a real place, and it turns into one of those spaces you’re always managing. So with this one, we made sure everything had a place. Closed storage to keep it feeling calm, open shelving for the things you use all the time, and hooks right where you need them when you walk in.
