Art you can’t hang on a wall, because it IS the wall.
This scene started as our client’s own photo, which she transformed into the artwork you see here. She wanted it built right into her home, and we were more than thrilled to make it happen.
Here’s how it works. Special graphic paper, printed with the design and a surface retarder, is placed in the formwork. The outer concrete layer is poured over it, followed by insulation, rebar and the final structural layer of concrete.
Once cured, the panel is lifted, the paper is carefully peeled away, and the surface is pressure washed to reveal the image. The retarder creates a contrast between smooth and textured concrete, bringing the design to life.
The result? A work of art made from concrete itself, with no paint or applied image to fade or peel.
