Rock Face Stabilization | Highway 1

A closer look at our latest shoring scope along Highway 1 near Portage and Bute Street.

Working alongside jacobbros_construction , the crew is drilling rock anchors into the exposed soil and rock face, reinforcing and stabilizing the area as work continues on the larger Highway 1 upgrade project.

It’s specialized work happening alongside one of Vancouver Island’s busiest transportation corridors, requiring careful coordination between crews as the project moves forward.

Stabilizing the Slope | SCIANEW STELITKEL

A closer look at the next stage of our stabilization work at the new Westshore school.

With the rock anchors in place, our Axis crew is now working from a boom lift to apply shotcrete across the slope along the perimeter of the site.

The final application will feature a toned finish to match the adjacent rock, giving the stabilized rock face a cleaner appearance that better complements the finished school environment.

Into the Shotcrete Phase | SCIANEW STELITKEL

With the rock anchors now installed, our Axis team has moved into the next phase of rock face stabilization at the new elemtary school on Latoria.

Working from a boom lift, our nozzlemen are spraying shotcrete onto the perimeter slope, tying the stabilization system together and creating a secure, reinforced surface.

Once the primary shotcrete layer is complete, a final coloured cosmetic shotcrete coat will be applied, providing the required stabilization while creating a cleaner, more finished appearance for the school environment.

Another important phase coming together as we work toward getting the site ready for the start of the school year.

Building the Perimeter | Royal Bay

A closer look at the first stage of our newest shoring project in Royal Bay, working alongside Copcan Civil.

Our team is advancing along the Metchosin Road perimeter, installing vertical pipe piles that will form part of the shoring system as excavation progresses across the site.

This is the beginning the shoring scope, with our team set to install a tieback and shotcrete shoring system while working closely alongside the excavation crews throughout the project.

A New Shoring Project Underway | WCLTC

Our team has kicked off a new shoring installation for the Western Community Long Term Care Facility project in Royal Bay.

Over the course of the project, we’ll be installing a pipe pile, tieback anchor and shotcrete shoring system, working closely alongside the excavation crews as the site is brought down in stages.

Today, our focus is on installation of vertical pipe piles to begin forming the shoring system around the site.

This is just the beginning of a notable scope for our team, with plenty more to come as excavation progresses, working alongside Copcan Civil.

At Darwin Road, our team is drilling a series of probe holes down to bedrock, helping map the bedrock topography across the site and provide more accurate subsurface information.

That data can then help inform excavation planning and foundation design as the project moves forward.

Slope Stabilization | South Langford Elementary School

A closer look at our latest stabilization project at the new SCIANEW STELITKEL elementary school in the Westshore.

With the start of the school year approaching, our team is working through a quick turnaround to secure the slope along this perimeter of the property.

Rock anchors and dowels are being drilled and installed to reinforce the slope, preparing each section for the next stage: shotcrete.

Making the Site Safe for Back to School

Our team is on site at a new SCIANEW STELITKEL elementary school on Latoria in the Westshore, completing rock face and slope stabilization work on a tight turnaround ahead of the start of the school year.

Crews are working along the perimeter of the site, drilling anchors into the exposed soils & rock face to reinforce and stabilize the area before moving into the shotcrete phase.

With students and staff arriving soon, the priority is making sure the exposed rock faces are properly secured and the surrounding areas are ready for use.

A quick turnaround, an important scope, and another slope stabilization project underway for the AXIS team.

Jenkins Road | Shotcrete

A look back at some of the shotcrete work our Axis team completed at Jenkins Road alongside Blackrete Builders

From preparing the surface to getting on the nozzle and spraying shotcrete, it takes coordination across the entire crew to keep the work moving and get each section completed properly.
