Long grass, don’t care. Until you see the after.

This lawn had been left to grow for quite some time before its initial cut, so the first visit made a pretty satisfying difference.

But the real transformation comes after the before and after.

We continued maintaining the property regularly, keeping the lawn cut, edges clean and the property consistently looking cared for.

Because getting an overgrown lawn back under control is one thing. Keeping it that way is where regular landscape maintenance makes the difference.

Clematis is a great way to soften structures like pergolas, fences and arbours, adding height, colour and seasonal interest without taking up much garden space.

Here, the clematis is beginning to climb the pergola post, eventually helping the structure feel like part of the landscape rather than something simply built into it.

If your yard has a fence, pergola or bare vertical space, the right climbing plant can completely change how it feels.

Looking to add more interest to your landscape? We can help with planting, garden improvements and complete landscape installations throughout Greater Victoria.

There’s something nice about heading into the weekend with the lawn cut, gardens cared for and the property already looking the way it should.

That’s what consistent landscape maintenance should provide. Less time thinking about what needs to be done outside and more time enjoying it.

Wishing everyone a great weekend from this beautiful Sidney, BC property.

Sometimes the best way forward is to start over.

Phase 1 of this Broadmead backyard transformation started by removing the existing landscape and rebuilding the property from the ground up.

The backyard was levelled, a brand new irrigation system was installed, new lawn and garden soil were brought in, followed by new sod and hedge planting to completely reset the space.

What was an outdated backyard now has a clean, healthy foundation for everything still to come.

And this is only Phase 1.

Hohl Landscape is growing, and we’re adding to the team.

We’re currently hiring for:

• Truck Leader, Maintenance
• Truck Leader, Projects
• General Labourer / Seasonal Hire

For the Truck Leader positions, we’re looking for people with professional landscaping experience, strong communication skills, a valid driver’s licence, and the ability to take ownership of a crew and job site.

For the General Labourer role, experience is an asset but not required. Reliability, work ethic, attitude, and a willingness to learn matter just as much.

For the right people, this can be more than a seasonal job. Year round employees can become eligible for health benefits, profit sharing, performance based wage increases, training, certifications, and opportunities to advance within the company.

If you take pride in your work and want to build a career with a growing landscaping company in Greater Victoria, we’d love to hear from you.

Pruning isn’t just about making plants smaller. Done properly, it keeps a landscape looking intentional, helps plants maintain their shape and health, and prevents a mature garden from slowly becoming overgrown.

This Bear Mountain residential property has been professionally maintained for several years, and this seasonal pruning is part of what keeps an established landscape looking polished year after year.

No dramatic renovation. No starting over. Just consistent attention before the garden ever reaches the point where it looks like it needs attention.

That’s the real value of ongoing landscape maintenance.

If you want your property consistently cared for rather than periodically rescued, we’re currently welcoming new residential landscape maintenance clients

A walk around one of our recent North Saanich residential landscaping projects, where the focus was on improving what was already there.

We added new plants, created crisp hard edges along the lawn, weeded and pruned the existing gardens, and finished the beds with fresh mulch.

The result is a cleaner, more intentional landscape without the cost or disruption of starting over.

If you like your property but feel like the landscaping has lost some of its polish, a targeted refresh can make a bigger difference than you might think.

Victoria yards don’t really have an “off-season.”

Our mild winters, wet months and long growing season mean taking care of a property here is very different from most of Canada.

So, what should actually be done and when?

We put together a Victoria BC Yard Maintenance Guide covering:

• What professional yard maintenance should include
• What to tackle in spring, summer, fall and winter
• Why moss and weeds are such a battle in Greater Victoria
• One-time cleanups vs. ongoing maintenance
• What landscape maintenance typically costs locally
• What to look for when choosing a landscaping company

Whether you maintain your property yourself or have someone take care of it for you, there are some useful local tips in here.

This oceanfront home in Sidney, BC didn’t need a complete landscape overhaul it needed the existing property brought back into focus.

Our team completed a detailed garden cleanup, pruning, and fresh mulch installation, opening up overgrown areas, sharpening the garden beds, and giving the property a cleaner, more intentional finish.

That’s often the difference with an established landscape. The plants and structure are already there. A welltimed reset can completely change how the property feels without changing what made it beautiful in the first place.

And with a backdrop like this, sometimes less really is more.

If your property has slowly become more overgrown than grownin, it might be time for a reset.

The best landscape maintenance is the kind you barely have to think about.

You pull in. The lawn is cut. The edges are clean. The gardens are maintained. The property simply looks the way it should.

These photos are from one of the properties we maintain in North Saanich, where the goal isn’t a once a year transformation. It’s keeping the landscape consistently cared for so it never needs one.

Regular landscape maintenance also means noticing the small things early: weeds before they take over, plants that need attention, irrigation concerns, seasonal growth and the details that slowly change how a property presents.

Because your weekends are probably better spent enjoying your property than catching up on it.
