We completed a basement and staircase renovation project in Meaford, where we removed old carpet from the 1970s with the backing stuck to the concrete subfloor. Our team used a heavy-duty orbital floor sander to remove the remaining backing, ensuring a suitable surface for the hardwood flooring adhesive. The project proceeded with the installation of Canadian-made hardwood on the floors and stairs, we finished by adding colonial-style baseboards that complement the house's era.

We were given the task of bringing a 3000 square foot home into the modern era by replacing the dark hardwood floors with lighter, more contemporary options. The dark hardwood floors made the house feel surprisingly cramped and closed-in. First things first, we tore out the old flooring and disassembled the railing with care, as requested by the client, for future use and fitted new stair nosings that matched the new flooring. We also cut the stone around the fireplace to fit the new, thicker flooring and installed it using both staples and glue. The result was a marked improvement over the original.

In the second half of this week, our focus shifted to a traditional Canadian made solid hardwood flooring project. Although wide engineered hardwood flooring is predominantly used in modern times, this project allowed us to revisit the old days with classic 3-inch wide planks. The investment in solid hardwood floors is rewarded with the benefit of refinishing them 4-7 times throughout their extended 75-100 year lifespan.

This week we took on a renovation project that involved giving a kitchen, laundry room, and bathroom a total makeover. The existing slate tile was still in pretty good condition, but it was definitely showing its age. The customer wanted a change, and we were happy to oblige. The surface was a bit uneven, so we had to go with some primer and self-leveling underlayment, followed by luxury vinyl tile and topped off with some new baseboards. It was a big transformation without the hassle and expense of removing the old slate.

We accepted the challenge of fitting a job into a tight schedule with a guaranteed completion date of Christmas🎄 The outdated carpet and baseboards that showed signs of wear from previous tenants were taken out and the house was transfomed for the new owners. We successfully installed a new vinyl plank floor and baseboards with 2 days to spare.

This week, we undertook the task of removing old carpet and creating a seamless flow of flooring throughout. To achieve this, we added a subfloor to the living room to match the height of the kitchen tile, then leveled the tiles and installed new vinyl plank flooring on top and new baseboards. This method keeps costs and mess to a minimum for the customer. Product: Twelve Oaks Woodcraft EMR.
