Imperfectly Perfect ✨
A pie cabinet is a wooden cabinet traditionally used to store and display pies and baked goods with decorative perforated panels on the doors to allow air to circulate while keeping insects and dust off the baked goods.
My client had treasured this piece, carefully stored in her garage for years. It had been passed down through her family, making its way from the states before finding a place in her home. With an estimated age of nearly 100 years old, this piece held a rich history and lots of sentimental value. Recognizing this, I embarked on a journey to restore and revive the pie cabinet, aiming to modernize it while preserving its heritage.
Time had taken its toll on the pie cabinet with the hardware and hinges tarnished by complete rust, and the decorative panels in the doors had become distorted and misshapen. With a little effort, a fresh coat of paint, and some new hardware, this piece has become the perfect coffee bar for my client's home.
