Dry rot plywood is more than just an appearance issue, it’s a serious structural problem. When plywood becomes rotten or water damaged, it loses its strength and can no longer properly hold roofing nails. That means your new shingles and roofing system may not be securely fastened, leading to future leaks, blow offs, and costly repairs.

A proper roof replacement isn’t just about shingles. It’s also about making sure the roof deck underneath is solid and structurally sound.
Ventilation is just as important. Without proper soffit ventilation and roof ventilation, heat and moisture get trapped in the attic. Over time, this can cause condensation, mold, premature shingle failure, and wood rot in the roof decking.
Good airflow = a longer-lasting roof.

Funny how small jobs turn into big ones sometimes
This one needed more than expected!
We removed not 1, not 2, but 3 layers of old shingles and cedar shakes to make sure this home was done properly from the ground up.
Now it’s protected with a full GAF roofing system, built to withstand whatever Mother Nature throws our way.
And they are not done yet… new siding, eaves, and a full wrap around deck are coming next. This place is going to look incredible when it’s finished!

What better way to start the week than tackling a multi layer strip and cedar shake removal on mansard walls

Have to get back into the groove of taking photos along the way and before and after. Winter was too long out of practice ! Lol

From a leaky roof with no underlayment to a fully protected system built to last.

Glad to be back up on the roof !
Had to battle those April showers all week, weather definitely didn’t make it easy on us but we pushed through and got it done right.
All sealed up with Timberline HDZ Charcoal shingles. Solid work and ready for whatever comes next.
