Any dust, debris, or uneven areas can cause problems during installation and may result in an uneven finish. If you are tiling a wall, make sure it is properly primed and prepared. If you are tiling a floor, make sure it is level and free of any cracks or holes.

Use the Right Adhesive: The type of adhesive you use will depend on the surface you are tiling and the type of tiles you are using. For example, a waterproof adhesive is necessary for areas that will be exposed to water, like bathrooms and kitchens. Also, some types of tiles, such as porcelain or glass, may require a special adhesive. Make sure to read the manufacturer's instructions carefully.

Plan Your Layout: Before you start installing the tiles, plan your layout carefully. This will help you to determine where to start and how to align the tiles properly. Use a chalk line or a laser level to mark guide lines on the surface. Also, consider where you will place cut tiles. It's usually best to place them in less visible areas, such as corners or under cabinets.

Remember to leave space for grout lines and to use tile spacers to maintain consistent spacing between the tiles. Also, make sure to mix enough adhesive to use within 30 minutes to an hour, as it may start to dry out and lose its effectiveness after that time.
