Benjamin Moore’s 2027 colour of the year

09/23/2026

Six oak church doors. One meaningful restoration.

We recently had the privilege of restoring six beautiful oak church doors for Saint Marks United Church.

The process included:

• Complete stripping
• Thorough chemical wash
• Staining to enhance the natural character of the oak
• Protective sealer
• Two finish topcoats for maximum durability and protection

We’re proud to have revived these doors to their original glory and helped enhance the character of this 200-year-old building. Projects like this give us the opportunity to really flex our craftsmanship and showcase the attention to detail that goes into our work.

A big shoutout to the team Colour X - Benjamin Moore for helping us secure the products we needed on short notice. Your support and knowledge helped make this project possible.

Deck Refacing

This second-story deck was showing its age, but the structure was still solid. A complete reface transformed the look and extended its life for a fraction of the cost of a new build.

For this project, we transformed heavily textured popcorn ceilings into a smooth, modern finish that completely changed the feel of the space.

🔨 Our Process

✔️ Lay down floor protection
✔️ Popcorn texture removed using our dustless sanding system
✔️ Multiple skim coats applied to achieve a smooth, uniform surface
✔️ Full prime coat to seal and prepare the ceilings
✔️ Professional finish coats for a flawless result

✨ Custom Shed Restoration Complete ✨

This beautiful custom-built shed was showing signs of weathering and uneven colour after years of exposure to the elements. Our goal was to bring the natural beauty of the wood back to life while providing long-lasting protection.

🪵 The Process:
✔️ Full strip of the existing finish
✔️ Detailed sanding to restore the wood surface
✔️ Thorough preparation and cleanup
✔️ Application of 1 coat of Cetol Penetrating Oil tinted in Natural Oak

The penetrating oil enhanced the natural grain and character of the wood while providing a rich, warm finish that will age beautifully over time. The transformation speaks for itself!

At Smith & Sons Painting, we believe great results start with proper preparation. Taking the time to strip and sand this project ensured the new finish could pe*****te deeply and perform as intended.

Thinking about restoring your deck, fence, shed, or other exterior wood surfaces? We’d be happy to help.

Deck season has officially arrived at Smith & Sons Painting ☀️🪵

Just wrapped up this beautiful exterior stair project using 2 coats of CUTEK Extreme tinted in Expresso for a rich, natural finish that enhances the wood grain while providing long-lasting protection against the elements.

The warm tone paired perfectly with the modern dark brick exterior, giving these stairs a clean, high-end look that’s built to last through the Canadian seasons.

If your deck, fence, or outdoor wood surfaces are looking weathered or faded, now is the perfect time to get them refreshed before summer is in full swing.

✨ Grand Room Transformation ✨

This stunning two-storey great room got a fresh, modern update for some amazing clients in the beautiful Brooklin community. 🏡

We repainted the entire space using Benjamin Moore Aura Matte in the colour Pale Oak (OC-20). Our painting process creates a smooth, durable finish that brightens the room and complements the natural light perfectly. The lighter tone completely refreshed the space while keeping the stone fireplace as the focal point.

The result? A clean, airy feel that makes this already impressive room feel even bigger. 🎨

✔️ Premium paint for long-lasting durability
✔️ Crisp lines and detailed prep work
✔️ Seamless colour transformation
✔️ Happy homeowners
