My name is Austin Ridge, I have been a Journeyman Electrician for 5 years and I recently became a licensed electrical contractor within the City of Winnipeg.
Being a licensed contractor allows me to pull electrical permits to complete any electrical upgrades for your home. Any homeowner should have a permit for the following:
-Service Upgrades from 100A to 200A
-Finishing Basements
-Installation of a hot tub
-New garage construction
-Installation of a central air conditioning unit
-K**b & tube replacement
-Installation of any NEW fixtures in your home
-Electric vehicle charging stations
-Installation of Photovoltaic systems (Solar Panels)
You do not need a permit for replacement of fixtures in your home but should consult a licensed electrician for proper installation.
The City of Winnipeg has been cracking down on unpermitted work as well as permitted work that has not been inspected and closed. This could affect the future sale of your home.
