☕ What Being a Bookkeeping Business Owner Really Looks Like

Owning a bookkeeping company is so much more than crunching numbers.

Sure, I reconcile accounts, track GST/PST, run payroll, and find that missing 3-cent bank error that no one else sees — but that’s just the start.

Here’s what my days actually look like 👇

• I grab my coffee before diving into spreadsheets.
• I bring my clients coffee (and whatever else they need) to start their day off right.
• I pick up supplies they need when they’re too busy to get them themselves.
• I drop off client orders because some things still need a personal touch.
• I answer emails (and yes, I see every single one).
• I help companies post jobs and find the right candidates.
• I find missing receipts and make sure every remittance lines up.
• I start books from scratch, setting up clean, smart systems that make sense.
• I run payroll — accurately, on time, and with zero excuses.
• I live in Excel — formulas are basically my second language.
• I invoice to the minute because time is valuable…

but I never charge for a quick text or email, because that’s just good business.

Being a business owner means wearing every hat — bookkeeper, payroll pro, problem-solver, tech support, delivery driver, coffee runner, and sometimes therapist (for both clients and their books).
