Today, creating a high-end look in your home is no longer about having a huge budget. It’s about the way the space is designed and finished.

That’s why more homeowners are choosing microcement, lime plaster, custom finishes, and modern wall textures instead of traditional, outdated materials.

These finishes add depth, character, and a more refined feel to a space, making it look significantly more modern and luxurious. In many cases, even a single feature wall or a thoughtfully designed area can completely transform the feel of an entire home.

Today’s design trends are moving toward clean aesthetics, natural textures, and timeless finishes that continue to look elegant for years to come.

If you’re thinking about updating your space with a modern and sophisticated look, contact SH Construction to discuss your project.

Sometimes the problem isn’t the tile.
Sometimes the real problem is hidden underneath.
This shower pan had already been replaced before. But it was still hollow underneath and installed using spot bonding only.
The result? Movement under the shower pan, pressure, cracks, and eventually water damage. Now we’re rebuilding it differently.

We’re using full mortar coverage and adding KERDI-BOARD underneath to create a solid support and make everything flush with the shower pan. Yes, it takes more time.
But this is exactly how we believe it should be done.
The previous installation was done with dots only — and unfortunately the entire shower pan cracked.

That’s why we don’t recommend spot installation. Full coverage creates proper support and helps prevent movement in the future.

The Leaking Shower. Chapter 5.
At first, this looked like a simple shower leak.
But once we opened everything up, we found the real problem.
The drain hole was cut way too big, which caused movement around the drain. That movement cracked the slab and eventually cracked the epoxy seam as well.
Water started getting underneath the membrane and into the wood framing below. The 2x4s absorbed moisture, expanded, dried out, and kept moving over and over again.
Then they tried to fix it by installing a second shower pan on top of the first one.
But by that point, the damage was already done.
And the biggest issue of all?
The waterproofing system was completely wrong.
