A summer of projects with PIVIT!☀️

From grouting precast concrete and building masonry pillars to decks, fences, concrete projects and more, it’s been a busy summer seeing PIVIT products put to work on projects of all sizes.

We spent the season getting out on jobsites, working alongside contractors, capturing new projects, and continuing to show what PIVIT can do in the field.

KNOW YOUR MIX: PACKBASE vs. SANDBASE.

They might look similar, but they’re made for different jobs.

PIVIT PACKBASE is a limestone screening material used as a bedding and levelling layer beneath pavers and slabs. It’s installed over a properly prepared aggregate base to help create a smooth, even surface for installation.

PIVIT SANDBASE is a washed and screened multi-purpose sand that can be used as a component in custom concrete and mortar mixes, as well as for levelling, fill, and winter traction.

Ever wonder how massive concrete walls and structural components arrive at a jobsite ready to install?

That’s precast concrete.

Manufactured in a controlled plant environment, precast components are formed, reinforced, poured, and cured before being transported to the jobsite and installed into place.

We spent the day with BRIK Masonry capturing the process as they used PIVIT BRICKMIX N 1:1:6 to construct stone pillars for a local barn project.

KNOW YOUR MIX: FAST STRONGSET vs. FENCESET. Which one do you need?

Both set fast, but they’re designed for different jobs. FAST STRONGSET is a 4000 PSI fast-setting concrete for structural and general concrete applications, including structural post footings, slabs, sidewalks, steps, and patios. Unlike FENCESET, FAST STRONGSET needs to be properly mixed with water before placement.

FENCESET is made for quick, non-structural post installations like fence posts, mailbox posts, and lamp posts. It can be mixed directly in the hole, making post setting quick and straightforward.

Setting a fence post or tackling a larger concrete project? Know the application before choosing your mix.

Introducing KNOW YOUR MIX, a new series breaking down PIVIT products and helping you choose the right mix for the job.

First up: BRICKMIX N vs. BLOCK S.

BRICKMIX N is a Type N mortar designed for general above-grade masonry applications, including walls, veneers, brick, block, and stone.

BLOCK S is a higher-strength Type S mortar designed for more demanding applications, including foundations, below-grade masonry, retaining walls, and load-bearing structures.

Type N and Type S aren't interchangeable. The right mortar depends on the application and project requirements, so always check your project specifications before choosing your mix.
