Happy Thanksgiving from all of us.

This Thanksgiving, we pause to reflect on what we're most grateful for: the people who help us bring communities to life.

To our clients, thank you for trusting us with your vision.

To the communities where we build, thank you for welcoming us and allowing us to contribute to your growth.

To our partners, consultants, and subcontractors, thank you for your collaboration, expertise, and commitment to excellence.

Most importantly, thank you to our incredible team.

From our carpenters and labourers to our foremen, site superintendents, project coordinators, project managers, architects, and every member of our design-build team, your dedication, craftsmanship, and passion are the foundation of everything we accomplish.

Building great projects starts with great people. This Thanksgiving, we are grateful for each of you and the role you play in creating spaces where people live, work, and connect.

Wishing everyone a safe, happy, and meaningful Thanksgiving.

And thanks Hughie for sharing your fall Aurora photo

Today, we honour the Survivors of residential schools, remember the children who never returned home, and acknowledge the families and communities who continue to carry the impacts of this history.

Across the Northwest Territories, Truth and Reconciliation is deeply personal. It lives in the stories shared by Elders, families, colleagues, partners, and communities. These stories remind us of the importance of listening, learning, and understanding the truths that have shaped our country and our North.

At ARCAN, we are grateful for the relationships we have built with Indigenous governments, development corporations, businesses, and communities throughout the North. These partnerships are founded on respect, trust, and a shared commitment to creating opportunities that support long-term community growth and prosperity.

Today is a time for reflection, education, and remembrance. It is also a reminder that reconciliation is an ongoing journey that requires action, accountability, and a willingness to learn.

We honour Survivors.
We remember the children who never came home.
We support a future built on respect, understanding, and partnership.

National conversations about housing and economic growth need northern voices at the table.

This week, ARCAN was pleased to welcome the Governor of the Bank of Canada and his team for a discussion on housing, construction, and economic development across the Northwest Territories. Representatives from the Tłı̨chǫ Investment Corporation, ARCAN's majority owner, also joined the site visit and conversation, bringing valuable perspectives on Indigenous economic development and long-term investment in the North.

Together, we shared insights on the opportunities and challenges involved in building in northern and remote communities. Topics included housing demand, infrastructure development, construction costs, supply chain pressures, workforce development, and the role that modular construction can play in delivering housing, commercial, institutional, and industrial buildings throughout the North.

We were also proud to highlight the progress being made through Metcan Building Solutions, our partnership with the Hay River Metis Government Council. By expanding northern manufacturing capacity, we are helping deliver modular housing and buildings built in the North, for the North, while creating employment, training, and economic opportunities that stay in northern communities.

We appreciate the opportunity to contribute to these important discussions and help ensure northern realities are reflected in conversations that shape Canada's economy.

Building the North takes partnership. We're proud to work alongside Indigenous governments, development corporations, communities, and industry partners to create lasting economic and social benefits across the Northwest Territories.

Happy Friday! What a great way to end off the busy week.

"It's us. It's home."

Those words capture exactly what the Edzo Transitional Home was designed to achieve.

ARCAN was proud to serve as the design-builder for this culturally grounded, trauma-informed facility developed by the Tłı̨chǫ Government and Tłı̨chǫ Community Services Agency.

From the granny hanky-inspired exterior to the warm, residential interiors, every detail was shaped to create safety, comfort, and belonging. Thanks to Charlotte Henry for working with and providing the soft touches for the client.

As the only general contractor in Northern Canada with NWTAA-registered architects on staff, we believe great projects happen when design and construction work together from day one.

Thank you to our partners for trusting us with a project that will support families and strengthen community for years to come.

This week, members of the ARCAN Construction team had the opportunity to visit two important projects currently underway in Behchokǫ̀.

Our first stop was the Family Centre in Rae, where progress continues to move forward at a great pace. With walls up, roofing underway, and our trade partners hard at work, the building is beginning to take shape. Once complete, this facility will provide space for a number of valuable programs and services that will benefit the community for years to come.

We then visited the Transitional Home in Edzo, which is now nearing completion. After 16 months of hard work and collaboration, the project is in its final stages with deficiencies being addressed. We are excited to see this important facility prepare to welcome residents and support programs that will have a lasting impact on Behchokǫ̀ and the surrounding region.

Visits like these are always a reminder of what makes our industry so rewarding. Seeing the progress firsthand, connecting with the tradespeople and project teams on site, and witnessing the pride and professionalism they bring to their work every day reinforces why we do what we do.
Most importantly, it was great to see both sites operating safely while delivering quality work for our client and the community.

We are proud to be part of projects that help strengthen northern communities and create spaces that will serve generations to come.

We must echo Metcan Building Solutions here. We really enjoyed having everyone in Hay River.

Given the chance, we will build the capacity. There are northern options like we have been providing for over 30 years

“Thank you to Yellowknife Chamber of Commerce and Hay River Chamber of Commerce for the incredible opportunity to bring people from across the NWT and beyond during the 2026 Trade Show Mission to our facility in Hay River. It was a great day showcasing all of the incredible businesses, services and vendors that Hay River has to offer.”
