Did you know?
People with disabilities have the skills Alberta’s trades need—but barriers still exist. In 2024, the employment rate for persons with disabilities was just 46.4% nationally, compared to 66.2% for those without disabilities. Alberta leads at 53%, but there’s more work to do.
Organizations like Selections Career Support Services are making a difference through programs like GRIT (Get Ready in Trades), helping individuals with disabilities gain pre-apprenticeship training and connect with inclusive employers. Learn more: selectionscareer.com
Employers: Inclusive hiring isn’t just the right thing—it’s smart business. Employees with disabilities have 80% lower turnover rates, and inclusive workplaces attract broader customer bases.
👉 Join the movement. Hire inclusively. Build a stronger trades workforce.

As Canadians, we hold a shared responsibility to remember and recognize the sacrifices of all who have served—and continue to serve—our country in times of war, military conflict, and peace.

This week includes Indigenous Veterans Day on November 8 and Remembrance Day on November 11, a time to reflect on the courage, dedication, and selflessness of those who have worn the uniform. This year’s theme, Canadian Armed Forces in the Americas, highlights the vital role our military has played both at home and across the Americas, safeguarding our sovereignty and strengthening our bonds as a trusted neighbour and ally.

We also want to recognize the incredible work of organizations like Helmets to Hardhats, which help veterans transition into meaningful careers in the skilled trades. Their support empowers those who’ve served to continue building Canada—literally and figuratively—with pride and purpose.

Lest we forget.

Please note: Our offices will be closed on Monday, November 11 in observance of Remembrance Day.

💪 Celebrating Labour Day 💪
Labour Day reminds us of the workers who fought for fairness, safety, and equality—and of the work still ahead. In the trades, women continue to break barriers and build stronger, more inclusive workplaces.
As we honour the progress made and the power of solidarity, we also recognize the determination of tradeswomen shaping our future.
