100 years later, the journey is still running.

The Bugnei Viaduct is 120 metres long and was put into service exactly 100 years ago, in 1926, as part of the railway connecting the Alpine valleys. Today, the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn still crosses it on its way between Disentis and Andermatt — and so does the iconic Glacier Express, one of Switzerland’s most spectacular panoramic train journeys.

A century later, the landscape is still the same kind of extraordinary — and around here, even the journey has a story to tell.

On September 5th, thousands of cyclists will take on some of the most spectacular Alpine passes, turning the roads around Andermatt into a celebration of endurance, passion and pure cycling spirit. From the first climb to the final descent, it’s not about racing — it’s about the challenge, the landscape and the feeling of making it over the next pass.
