greehill The word’s only Smart Tree Inventory — invented by greehill. A living digital twin for health, safety, clearance & climate. Your forest is your future. See it.

greehill pioneered Smart Tree Inventories — the only solution for urban forestry worldwide. We give cities a living digital twin of their urban forest — from the busiest street to the quietest park. Health, safety, clearance, planning, and climate value, all in one view. From San Francisco to Singapore, cities use greehill to prevent risks, plan with certainty, and prove climate progress with hard data. Lead it.

Most tree inventories answer one question: what´s there? greehill answers the next one: what does it mean?

In this video, we show how cities turn raw tree data into structured analysis, custom reports, and export-ready PDFs without leaving the platform.

What you'll see:
- Switching between 2D map and satellite view
- Total Height statistics: absolute vs percentage, 4 preset categories or a 10-level breakdown, bar or donut chart
- Map Analytics: every metric selectable in one popup, here we use Economical Value (Koch method), with trees colour-coded across the map instantly
- Selecting all trees from the list and generating a full Inventory Report, every tree, every parameter
- Customising the report layout and exporting as PDF in one click

The data was always in the inventory.
Now it works for the people managing it.

Meet Lilla Ondok.

GIS Analyst. Field scanner. Photographer.

Since joining .tree, Lilla has been working across Europe, scanning trees in public parks and city streets and helping build the urban tree data cities need to manage and protect their canopy.

Her background spans geoinformatics, archaeological fieldwork, water utility GIS, and photography.

What she likes about field scanning?

“You see the city differently. Every street, every park, every tree becomes part of a bigger picture.”

And when Lilla is not mapping urban forests with us, she captures the world through her own lens.

Tens of thousands of trees.
Three Australian states. 🇦🇺

From February to March, greehill completed new urban tree projects across Western Australia, Victoria, and Queensland.

• Perth Metro: 8,000 to 20,000 trees per project, supporting the response to Polyphagous Shot Hole Borer, an invasive beetle affecting urban trees.

• Sanctuary Cove: 5,000 trees captured to provide richer data for ArborSafe, Civica’s tree risk management system.

• Victoria Racing Club: 3,200 trees scanned at Flemington Racecourse to support the long-term care of historic trees.

Different places. Different challenges.

One common direction: better tree data for better decisions.

Large urban parks are among the most complex spaces a city manages.

They need to stay open, welcoming and alive.
They also need to stay safe.

As weather becomes more volatile and mature tree populations require closer attention, cities need a more precise way to manage their urban forests.

A park is not one condition.
It is many conditions at once.

The better a city understands those differences, the better it can protect people, preserve access and make confident decisions.

With a precise, tree-level understanding of the urban forest, cities can move beyond broad responses towards a more targeted, transparent and resilient approach.

Urban trees are part of the infrastructure of city life.
They need to be managed with the same intelligence.

A tree inventory is no longer always enough.

We’re opening our Spring webinar series with our Swiss partner Arboristes-Conseils with a session on:

Traditional tree inventory vs. Smart Tree Inventory

Held in French, this webinar looks at what cities increasingly need from tree data:
something they can verify, update, reuse, and defend over time.

For risk.
For planning.
For everyday decisions.

How many trees are actually in your city?

Simple question. Hard answer.

Because at city scale, trees are not neatly arranged objects.
Canopies overlap.
Vegetation gets dense.
Visibility changes with season, street layout, and perspective.

That makes it difficult to capture tree populations consistently across an entire city.

greehill uses high-resolution, ground-based LiDAR and advanced detection algorithms to identify individual trees — even in dense, complex urban environments.

So instead of working from estimates, cities can work from consistent, citywide data.

The result: a reliable foundation for urban forest inventories, better planning, and long-term management.

Mumbai made one thing clear: urban forestry is gaining political attention.

At the Second Indian Conference for Arboriculture, we presented greehill’s Smart Tree Management system to professionals and public-sector leaders from across India.

Visits from the Chief Minister of Maharashtra and the Mayor of Mumbai Ritu Rajesh Tawde underlined that trees are no longer treated as a side topic.

Thank you, Mumbai.

Our technology greehill Tree identifies 1,000+ species using LiDAR point clouds and street-level imagery.

At city scale, species recognition has to work through distance, occlusion, changing light, and seasonal variation. That’s why our approach prioritizes stable signals: canopy silhouettes in imagery and branching structure in LiDAR.

The result: far fewer “unknown” trees, and a more complete, actionable inventory for urban forestry teams.

If you manage urban forests, what would you do with reliable species data at city scale?

greehill maps don’t just show trees. They combine capture points, trees and complex polygon layers like districts, managed areas, planting sites.

At city scale, that can mean nearly 1GB of geospatial data in a single map view.

To keep exploration fast, we built a custom tile server and optimized our queries for high-density, multi-layer maps.

The result: noticeably faster loading and smoother interaction so teams can work with city-scale data without friction.

Curious what this could look like for your city? Let’s talk.

Western Australia update. Our greehill team will be on the ground in February 2026, scanning with several councils across WA before heading on to Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland.

A small number of additional councils can still be included while we’re already mobilised locally. The work gives teams a consistent, street-level view of the urban forest that supports practical decisions around maintenance priorities, budgets and reporting.

If your council wants to check feasibility for the WA route, reach out here and we’ll connect you with the right next step.
