The 🇨🇭 is 6.9% circular—just below the global level of 7.2%. This means most of the Swiss economy's material inputs come from virgin sources. Moreover, the country’s material consumption per capita tops both European and global averages. These are the findings of the Circularity Gap Report Switzerland, which calls for an urgent transition to a circular economy in Switzerland.

♻ A circular economy can cut Swiss material use by 33% and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 43%. How? Through tackling overconsumption and targeting high-impact areas: the built environment, transport, manufacturing and the food system.

“Glaciers are the ambassadors of climate change. The ice is melting at an unprecedented pace impacting water availability and livelihood. If we don’t act now, Swiss glaciers might completely disappear by 2100, and water supply from the mountains would shorten by up to 50% during summer.” (Matthias Huss)

Under the title "PROTECT OUR GLACIERS - if we don’t do our part, they will stop doing theirs", our member Maja Juzwiak started a project. She captured the beauty and the volatileness of our glaciers with her camera.

These photographs are portraied in two vernissages, where she informs and raises awareness about how vital glaciers are for our entire ecosystem and why we should start caring more about them. 50% of the sales go to the organisation Protect Our Winters, who help passionate outdoor people protect the places and lifestyles they love from climate change.

At you will work for 24 hours in a diverse team of students, entrepreneurs, scientists, policy makers and creative thinkers to address real climate challenges from the Umwelt- und Gesundheitsschutz Zürich. This year’s challenges are:

1 Let’s play: Gamification towards net-zero
2 Better together: Empower citizens to be climate scientists
3 Repair: The new normal.
4 Potential unlocked: Rethink Zurich’s parcel stations
5 Company challenge: Together towards net zero
