Gestern wurde gefeiert und nicht mehr geplant und gebaut.

Der FHNW Campus Dreispitz ist offiziell eröffnet – und gestern durften wir diesen besonderen Meilenstein gemeinsam feiern.

Mit vielen bekannten Gesichtern, neuen Begegnungen und vor allem der Gelegenheit, den Campus für einen Moment nicht als Projekt, sondern als fertigen Ort zu erleben – ganz ohne Pendenzenliste.

Danke an Immobilien Basel-Stadt und die Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz FHNW für die gelungene Eröffnung – und an alle, die diesen besonderen Moment mit uns geteilt haben.

Heute ist es so weit: Der FHNW Campus Dreispitz in Basel wird offiziell eröffnet.

Ein besonderer Moment für alle, die dieses Projekt in den vergangenen Jahren begleitet und mitgestaltet haben.

Mit dem Campus Dreispitz wird die «FHNW Strategie Raum 2035» erstmals umfassend räumlich umgesetzt. Entstanden ist ein Campus, bei dem die Menschen, die ihn täglich nutzen werden, im Mittelpunkt stehen. Ein Ort für Lernen und Lehren, für konzentriertes Arbeiten und Forschen – aber genauso für Begegnung, Austausch und neue Ideen.
Seit dem Kick-off mit der Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz FHNW, bei dem wir gemeinsam Vision und Ziele für den neuen Campus entwickelt haben, liegen unzählige Gespräche, Konzepte, Entscheidungen und intensive Planungsphasen hinter uns – und ganz zum Schluss natürlich der Baustellenalltag.

Umso schöner ist es, heute die ersten Einblicke in das fertige Projekt zeigen zu können.

Noch sind nicht ganz alle Arbeiten abgeschlossen. Bis zum Start des Herbstsemesters werden die letzten Details fertiggestellt. Aber schon jetzt beginnt das, worauf wir uns während der gesamten Planung besonders gefreut haben: Der Campus wird mit Leben gefüllt.
Heute freuen wir uns deshalb erst einmal auf die offizielle Eröffnung in Basel – und darauf, in den kommenden Wochen zu sehen, wie die neuen Räume angenommen, genutzt und zu einem selbstverständlichen Teil des Campusalltags werden.

Herzlichen Dank an die FHNW und insbesondere Adrian Dömer für das Vertrauen sowie an das ganze Team Services und an alle Beteiligten, die mit viel Engagement und guter Zusammenarbeit dazu beigetragen haben, diesen Ort Wirklichkeit werden zu lassen.

Where industrial character meets a fresh and youthful company culture.

The new office for Cradle, a Swiss-Dutch biotech software company that recently relocated to Zurich’s Hürlimann Areal.

The building envelope – a converted brewery setting with exposed steel beams, columns and restored timber roof trusses – gave us the amazing opportunity to design within such a distinctive architectural framework.

As exchange and collaboration are crucial in this field, open team areas are interwoven with meeting rooms and focus booths, as well as the main team kitchen and a cosy «living room» at the very entrance, creating opportunities for connection throughout the day.

Employee wellbeing was equally central to the concept. An in-house gym and yoga studio, together with a dedicated relaxation room, offer space to step away and recharge. Natural materials, generous daylight and greenery extend throughout the workplace, bringing warmth and a calm, grounded atmosphere to the industrial setting.

A great project to have been part of – thank you, Cradle.

Zurück auf dem Dreispitz – und kaum wiederzuerkennen.

Die Umsetzung des Education Designs für den FHNW Campus Dreispitz ist in den letzten Wochen deutlich vorangekommen.

Die Räume füllen sich, Materialien und Möblierung kommen zusammen und die neue Lern- und Arbeitswelt wird zunehmend Realität.

Bis zum Start des Herbstsemesters sind es nur noch wenige Wochen. Noch gibt es einiges zu tun – aber aus der Baustelle wird Schritt für Schritt ein Campus.

Noch ist es eine Baustelle. Doch der neue Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz FHNW Campus Dreispitz ist bereits deutlich spürbar.

Zwischen Materialstapeln und laufenden Montagearbeiten wird der Ausbau täglich sichtbarer: Die offenen Lernzonen nehmen Gestalt an, die Coworking und Lounge Terrasse wird zunehmend grüner, und die neuen Arbeits-, Meeting- und Begegnungsbereiche lassen bereits erahnen, wie der Campus künftig genutzt und belebt wird.

Bis zum Start des Herbstsemesters bleibt noch viel zu tun. Dass ein Ausbau dieser Dimension in einem so engen Zeitfenster umgesetzt werden kann, ist nur dank verlässlicher und erfahrener Unternehmer möglich. Mit jedem weiteren Schritt wird deutlicher, wie aus der ursprünglichen Gebäudestruktur Schritt für Schritt ein offener, vernetzter und zukunftsorientierter Campus entsteht.

Not every project unfolds exactly as originally planned. Sometimes, changing circumstances call for a new perspective – and that is exactly what happened at the FHNW Campus Dreispitz in Basel.

When architectural practice E2A won the competition for the new building in 2017, the world looked very different. Construction appeals delayed the project, while the pandemic profoundly changed how we think about learning, teaching, collaboration and the value of physical presence.

Before construction began, Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz FHNW commissioned Evolution Design to further develop the learning and interior design in response to these changing needs.

Our work focused on creating greater openness, connection and flexibility within the existing structure: more generous learning and workplace environments, new meeting and coffee hubs, warmer materials, improved acoustics, and a covered, landscaped learning and lounge terrace.

The result is a more open and connected campus – designed to support focus, collaboration, exchange and community.

The interior and education design for the new FHNW Campus Dreispitz in Basel is now visibly taking shape.

With deliveries arriving by the hour and construction moving at full speed, the project is entering an exciting phase on site. Our team is currently closely involved as planning, coordination and implementation come together in the final stretch before the campus opens for the autumn semester 2026.

After three years of developing the concept, aligning ideas and refining every detail, the vision is now turning into a one-of-a-kind campus for teaching, learning, working, and connecting.

Over the coming weeks, we look forward to sharing more from the construction site and showing how the project has evolved conceptually.

It's always fascinating to look back at where a project began.

These before-and-after images capture the transformation of the new MS Reinsurance Global Headquarters in Zurich – from a raw construction site to a workplace where focus meets comfort and flexibility powers productivity.

What started as concrete floors, exposed services and empty volumes became a series of inspiring environments that bring this vision to life – reflecting both the culture of MS Reinsurance and the way their people work.

A strong brand should be experienced, not just seen ✨

Following MS Reinsurance's recent rebrand, we had the opportunity to translate this global reinsurer’s values of trust, collaboration, and a people-centred approach into its Global Headquarters in Zurich.

Spread over four floors in Zurich’s Enge district, the workplace offers a diverse range of environments – from dedicated team neighbourhoods and quiet focus spaces to collaborative and informal meeting areas – all connected through the symbol of the sun from MS Reinsurance's visual identity, representing consistency, reliability, and growth. This idea unfolds through colours, materials, forms, and graphic elements, creating a workplace that feels both distinctive and authentic.

The result is more than a new head office. It is a space that reflects who MS Reinsurance is as an organisation for its team, clients, and partners.
