Upon our first encounter with Aranya, we were immediately captivated by the natural environment. It’s incredibly beautiful; the mountains, the lake, grass and trees are full of vitality. Because of this, we aimed to minimize any abrupt changes in the landscape. Thus, we did a lot to restore the natural scenery. The site is rich with native trees, and we carefully marked each one. To ensure harmonious coexistence between native and non-native plants, we made countless adjustments. We retained a large number of stones excavated during construction, using them to build drainage ditches and revetments on-site, while larger stones were used to create rock gardens. Out of respect for the original landscape, our goal was to blend everything we did with nature seamlessly. To achieve a look that feels untouched, we captured the changing colors of the seasons, injecting vibrant life and soul into the living spaces, restoring Aranya to a lush green expanse.
Only 20% of the world’s population can see the Milky Way. Due to the excessive artificial lighting caused by urbanization and industrialization, light pollution increases at a rate of 2% per year. Pollutants in the air, such as smoke and dust, amplify the effects of light pollution by scattering light in different directions, making the night sky brighter. We need better solutions and improved lighting design to allow us to gaze at the stars once more. These stars, born from the morning mist and scattered across the universe, connect us to the cosmos. Therefore, we meticulously designed the overall lighting system of the project, enabling more people to see the starry sky and the moon.
Our design is not meant to harm. The unavoidable construction is like major surgery on the land. What we do is to minimize the wound, ensuring that the design harmonizes with the environment rather than disrupting it.
