Join us as our Miloš Mladenović takes part in the 5th Anniversary Edition of Energy Week Western Balkans, taking place on 𝟳-𝟴 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 at Maestral Resort, Montenegro.

On the first day, Miloš will join the discussion panel “𝗣𝗣𝗔𝘀 𝟮.𝟬 - 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱, 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗸 𝗔𝗹𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻”.

💡The discussion will focus on corporate demand, pricing trends and merchant risk, the bankability of different PPA structures, risk allocation among market participants, and the role of utilities and traders in structuring deals.

We are pleased to have supported another successful edition of 𝗥𝗘𝗦 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗯𝗶𝗮 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, with SEEPEX once again providing institutional support to the conference.

As part of the programme, our Milos Mladenovic joined the panel “The New Architecture of the Electricity Market: From Generation to System Flexibility.”

The discussion focused on how recent developments are reshaping the regional electricity market. Milos emphasized that the impact of goes far beyond price differentials, influencing the broader investment environment, project bankability and market dynamics.

Developments in July and August were particularly revealing, with the weakening correlation between the Serbian and Hungarian spot markets emerging as one of the key market signals. At the same time, recent generation constraints have challenged long-standing assumptions about the reliability of conventional generation sources, including nuclear power.

Against this backdrop, the introduction of negative prices on SEEPEX has further highlighted the importance of efficient price signals, while , regional and of supply are becoming central to the next phase of electricity market development.

⚡ What is shaping electricity prices in the region?

🎙️ In today’s RTS Morning Programme, our , Milos Mladenovic, was a guest of Ruzica Vranjkovic, sharing his insights into the latest developments and challenges shaping the regional electricity market.

🌡️ High temperatures and strong demand continue to put upward pressure on electricity prices, although the situation is gradually improving in terms of hydrological conditions and nuclear generation.

💧 Drought and low water levels have directly affected hydropower generation, while the region has also experienced an indirect impact through reduced generation and temporary shutdowns of nuclear capacity, particularly at Paks in Hungary and Cernavodă in Romania.

☢️ The restart of nuclear reactors in Hungary is certainly good news, as the return of this generation capacity will contribute to easing pressure on the regional electricity market.

⚙️ During this period of increased market pressure, thermal generation played an important role in maintaining Serbia’s domestic electricity supply. At the same time, Bulgaria, supported by generation from the Kozloduy NPP, together with Greece, was among the sources contributing to the region’s electricity supply.
