Kythreotis Architects is a practice that designs high quality modern architecture. We have been working since 1960, when Diomedes Kythreotis a 1960 Thames University graduate, established the practice. Since then we have grown to one of the biggest architectural practices in Cyprus. Associate architect Charilaos Kythreotis joined the firm in 1993, after graduating from the Architectural Associatio
n London. Since the beginning we have managed to stay in touch with the demanding changes within the industry while earning an immense amount of experience in all the services that we offer, as well as being at the forefront of the modern movement of Cyprus architecture, by carefully selecting the firm’s members and associates in order to create a team combining experience with energy and vision. We also have a great deal of experience in working in close collaboration with international architectural and specialist consultant firms, on both local and international projects, offering our services on all stages of design and construction. The firm has been the recipient of numerous awards and prizes recognizing its wide range of design and technical accomplishments, as well as the first prize winner in a number of public and private architectural competitions. In 2004 Charilaos Kythreotis won the Cyprus architects Association award for Public Architecture, which is given every four years, for the Union of Journalists building, that was completed on the same year. This practice does not specialize in particular building types. Our main concern is design excellence, achieved through active collaboration with clients and specialists, from structural and environmental engineers to cost consultants, craftsmen and artists. We use a great range of materials in our projects and we enjoy it most when we inventively combine traditional and new construction techniques. All of our designs are discussed with the makers, not just in terms of performance, but also as aesthetic propositions. We consider these issues to be more important than working in a particular style and hope that each project will be an original interpretation of the client, site, brief and budget. We consider our specialization to be high quality architecture and enjoy having a broad range of projects in the office; from town master plans to government and public institutions, culture and media, multi use, sustainable tourist development projects, housing, office, recreation, stadiums, industrial and warehousing units, religious buildings, schools, restorations of ancient monuments and listed buildings, commercial and interior design, totaling to tens of millions of Euros. The management of these projects is considered as important as the creative and construction processes, as cost management is always of great importance.
