Here's the original 3D Logo Shape I created for the brand visuals. The textures were applied to display a sense of relentlessness with the hard metal, but also a playfulness with the colorful, quirky texture. Just what the agency wanted. Going with two different textures also allows for more flexibility when creating assets.

Last month I was asked by an agency to create brand visuals that they could use across their website and brand collaterals. They had the idea to transform their logo into a 3D shape and create patterns from it.
In the process we discovered that abstracted close-ups of the shape worked a lot better and could be used in a variety of ways.

You can swipe to see the some other compositions.

This is part of the exploration process done for a project with Zalando, in September 2021.
The brief was rather open towards figuring out a visual language, and that is always a big chance for me to "play around". I spend a lot of time figuring out new techniques, combining it with inspiration I picked up recently and apply design principles to create a good composition.

Here's some of the results from that research phase. note: None of them were actually used in the project. It ended up looking a little differently.

If there‘s one key take-away from this project, it is that for product shots using depth and establishing a scene that makes sense physically goes a long way. Composition-wise it helps to have a foreground element, the middle ground with the product and also a background.
Although this might seem so simple and obvious sometimes I have to recall these basic rules in order to get a good result faster. Just pushing shapes around, without a plan or concept just takes too much time.
Another thing is: Don‘t stop pushing your creativity when you get something good for the first time. The first set of images I presented to was using this color scheme but looked flat compared to the end result. After their feedback, I went back and took a closer look at reference images. How other people composed product shots and what I was missing about it. So I got into the project files again and applied the principles I could uncover there.
I think that is something talks about a lot in his more practical design videos. The importance of breaking down other images to why they work, and how you can apply these techniques to your own.

The weren't super complicated to make, technically. But I want to share some insights on my process for a project like this and give you guys a look behind the curtains.

First of all, I was delivered high quality product shots of the different models of the shoe by . After cutting them out I brought them into as planes [image 3]. That way the objects in the environment would react to it, hence incorporating it better into the scene. You can see that in the reflections of the spheres [image 2].
I messed around with shapes and composition a lot, only to go back to slightly deformed spheres. They just seemed like the best fit for the task.

Of course the color correction and slight retouching was done in as well.

Last week the people of reached out to me to promote the new PUMA Spectra Shoe on their website and social media channels. The posts performed well and the community loved the shoe - lots of 🔥-Emotes in the comment section.

The brand manager of had seen my refractive work on and imagined something along the lines of my sculptures project from last november. Although I was pretty much fully booked I jumped on and couldn‘t let this opportunity go to waste.

is going for the new style with their shoes and brand.

It's almost the end of the week, so here goes my last post for the chair series. 🙌
Fu**ed up the format... so I'm reuploading.

For this shot I used strong rimlights to contour the object and hight its shape. While setting light in Blender it almost felt like I was drawing with light. It's easy to control the areas of contrast, hence leading the eye to the most interesting parts of the object.
That was a somewhat fascinating process to go through.

Also for this shot I think the Color Grading in was really important and added that clean finish.

It's still up on for you to look at ;)

Final Shot - the coolest one in my opinion - highlights the dynamics through composition and the "vo**ur" perspective.
Hope that makes sense, you get it?

In january I decided to buy some wireless headphones - I figured why not create my own CG-Shots for it and try to advertise it in a more "high-end" fashion.
I modeled and shaded everything in order to learn more about Blender and 3D Workflows.
The wide format gives it some space to breath and black is always sexy, right?
