This year marks a remarkable milestone: 100 years of the University for Art and Design Cluj — a century of nurturing creativity, critical thinking, and cultural relevance.
Being part of this anniversary through the university’s open-door studio visits was both an honor and a moment of reflection for us.
As long-term collaborators of UAD and .uadcluj , we welcomed 30 students into our Cluj headquarters, opening the doors to our everyday reality as a professional archviz studio. The visit began with an in-depth presentation by our co-founder, Zsolt Szeibert , who shared our journey through more than 20 years in the industry — from early experiments and defining challenges to the turning points that shaped who we are today. The discussion addressed not only opportunities, but also the pain points of a constantly evolving profession, and the strategies we developed to navigate them with resilience and curiosity.
What followed was an open exploration of our production spaces. Students stepped directly into the heart of our studio, engaging in vivid conversations with our artists and project teams. Questions flowed naturally — about process, decision-making, creative pressure, technology, and the realities behind the images. These exchanges reminded us how valuable direct dialogue between academia and practice truly is.
This encounter carried a special meaning for us. In the same year that UAD celebrates a century of history, our Cluj office celebrates 10 years of growth, collaboration, and community. A decade of building teams, partnerships, and a shared culture — rooted in learning, openness, and responsibility.
Moments like this make the timeline tangible: generations of education meeting lived experience, curiosity meeting practice, and the future quietly stepping into the present. We left the day inspired and grateful — convinced once more that shaping what comes next is always a collective effort.
Many thanks to Patricia Opincariu and Horatiu Coman and to the entire beyond team for making such moments possible!
