Last weekend VDG association´s meeting in Bielefeld: directed by Benjamin Schröder the members compiled an impressive exhibition of Genovese instruments. Genova - the town of music superstar Paganini was always under the spell of his famous violin, "the Cannon". For me the most impressive violin on display was a 1926 Cesare Candi, who had found an inspiring way picking up the forms of the Cannon as well as accomplishing the violin in his own distinct style. Chapeau, Cesare!

It´s a big honor for me to hear Prof. Julia Galic has chosen my violin for her KlangGestalten concert: She will play the Friday night concert in Munich on my Testore copy!

...und noch mehr neue Geigen: Auch Frau Prof. Julia Galic hat sich entschlossen, im Konzert eine neue Meistergeige zu spielen: Nach langem Hin und Her (es gab so viele extrem gut klingende Instrumente !!) wird sie am 27.11. eine Geige von Andreas Hampel spielen...
Außerdem wird das Konzert nur mit modernen Meisterbögen bestritten: Es werden Bögen von allen beteiligten Bogenbauern im Einsatz sein!

Just after the exhibition Susanne - and most of the KlangGestalten group - went on to Fertans, a tiny, partly abandoned village in France. Over there Bernard Michaud runs a woodmill for precious tonewood and rents out his spacious woodworkers´workshop, which is ideal for gatherings like this. The KlangGestalten violin makers meet there annually for one week to work, to discuss and exchange ideas & techniques. There is a small film from the workshop 2012 on YT:

These days Susanne is in Brussels to present our instruments on the newmaking show "EKHO", which is part of the Queen Elizabeth Competition...
This is the first video I got from her - seems so that at least the evenings are full of fun over there. This is the great gipsy violinist Roby Lakatos and his band who still play occasionally in Brussels cafés - our friend Tibor knew about the locations and dates ...
