In the soundtrack of A Divided World, composers Stan Koch and Maarten Buning captured the tragedy and madness of World War II and its aftermath.

The series follows six historical figures navigating conflicting themes such as courage, despair, sacrifice and self-preservation. These themes were brought to life through intricate sound experiments, blending modern and classical instruments with analog reel-to-reel tape machines.

To achieve the desired sound, Stan Koch and Maarten Buning performed with strings, zither, piano, mandolin, guitars, and synthesizers, while also recording instrumentalists to bring their compositions to life: Samira Aly (cello), Linda Bergström (vocals), and Alistair Payne (trumpet). The cello adds classical depth, reflecting the tragedy of the era. Hypnotic vocals evoke the unsettling madness that consumed society, while the trumpet intensifies the chaos with overblown, experimental textures.

20th birthday postponed! We couldn't celebrate because of Covid in presence. The location had been found, the guest list had already been written and ideas for the catering had been made. The 20th birthday of an agency for film music, which distinguishes itself above all through its members, is therefore postponed. What OHRFILM is still releasing - in time - for this year, however, is wonderful music from the current and partly former artist roster of OHRFILM.
The briefing for this compilation [Ohrfilm 2001 - 2021] was simple: "please send me tracks that correlate with the cover artwork." And so it became a first-take album full of emotional and aesthetic moments. Thank you, dear composers! Without you, we at OHRFILM would be nothing.
Premiere on all known streaming and download services tomorrow, on the last day of 2021. Enjoy it and have a good New Years Eve!
